Retrieval of land for Regional Science Centre discussed

JAMMU, Mar 28: To discuss issues regarding retrieval of land allotted to Kala Kendra for establishment of Regional Science Centre (RSC) including Museum and Planetarium, Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Shantmanu convened a meeting of senior officers here today.
The meeting was attended by senior officers from JDA, SRTC, Revenue, State Science and Technology Department, Culture and other concerned departments.
Shantmanu informed that Kala Kendra at Bikram Chowk, Majalta, Chatha, Samba have been proposed as construction sites for Regional Science Centre, keeping in view the master plan of Jammu city and accessibility. He asked revenue authorities to provide detail of land of these sites in a time bound manner so that after inspection by team of Science and Technology Department, Government of India, the work on this prestigious project could be started.
He said that Regional Science Centre will be of immense benefit to the students and people at large and enjoined upon the officers to work in close coordination to provide every possible help to Science and Technology Department for early completion of Regional Science Centre in Jammu district.
The Divisional Commissioner was informed that the land adjacent to Kala Kendra is in possession of JKSRTC which is housing workshop and other assets of State Road Transport Corporation. The Divisional Commissioner directed the concerned authorities to identify land for SRTC workshop so that its functioning would not suffer.
