Sir,
The State Forest Advisory Committee’s nod to the construction of 14 km long tunnel at Zojilla pass is a welcome development. The tunnel at this place is a long demand of the people of Ladakh region. This is precisely because the development of the region is linked to this tunnel.
At present Ladakh division remains cut off almost six months due to heavy snowfall. As a result, life comes to a stand still here during this period. The all weather connectivity between Ladakh and Kashmir is going to change the complexion of this region. It will give a boost to the region’s economy and create job opportunities for people here.
The prestigious Rs 9000 crore project which will be completed in seven years will be a engineering marvel. Though the country has executed such projects in many parts of the country, it may pose several challenges to engineers as it is to be executed in adverse climatic conditions. It will need meticulous planning and free flow of funds to execute within the time limit.
There should be now no further hiccups to start work on this project.
Yours etc…
