Jammu’s Ridham part of Indian team for Asian Jr Handball C’ship

JAMMU, July 13: Ridham Sharma of J&K has been selected in the Indian team for the 18th Asian Junior Men’s Championship commencing from Sunday at Amman in Jordan.
Ridham got training and attended his practice sessions at Arun Sharma Handball Academy under the guidance of coach, Bachan Dogra.
Besides a Bronze medal he won in 2022 in the Khelo India Youth Games, Ridham has represented J&K four times in the Junior National Championships and played for DYSS in three competitions of the School Games Federation of India (SGFI).
A 12th standard student of Government Higher Secondary School Domana, Ridham extended a formal send off from Jammu by former India Handball captain and Chairman National Selection Committee, Ranjit Singh in the presence of Pravel Kumar, vice president of J&K Handball Association.
During interaction, Ranjit encouraged Ridham. He also shared his experience as former India player and captain so as to boost the young player. “Slowly and gradually, the game of Handball has started moving in the right direction.  With the launching of academies and development of the infrastructure in the sports hub of Jammu, young boys and girls have shown interest in the game,” said Ranjit, who retired as SSP (Retd) J&K Police.
