SRINAGAR, Mar 30: Security forces today busted a militant hideout in the forests of Baramulla district and recovered huge quantity of arms, ammunition and war like stores.
Srinagar based Defence spokesman, Lt Col N N Joshi, said here that a joint operation was launched by Army and Special Operations Group of Jammu and Kashmir Police in Tangmulla forests of Rafiabad in district Baramulla and recovered huge quantity of arms and ammunition along with other war like stores.
“Based on a specific intelligence input regarding location of a terrorist hideout in Tangmulla forest of Rafiabad, a joint operation by a Rashtriya Rifle unit of Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police was launched today at around 9:30 am.
During the search, a huge quantity of arms and ammunition were recovered which include one AK 47 and one AK 56 Rifle with four magazine and 90 rounds of ammunition, one disposal Rocket Launcher with two Rockets, three Chinese grenades, seven detonators, one Nokia Mobile set along with other war like stores”, the spokesman said.
Joshi said: “Two hideouts were busted few days ago one at Shok Baba forest of Bapura, district Bandipora and the other at village Chandusa of district Baramulla. Large cache of weapons ammunition was recovered by the vigilant troops from these hideouts. These recoveries will serve as a major blow to the terrorists.”
In the meantime, security forces over the past few days have intensified their vigil in North Kashmir after reports of militant movements. Sources said that the security forces have inputs about the recent movement of top Lashkar-e-Toiba commanders between South Kashmir and North Kashmir.
Police and Army are conducting surprise checks of vehicles along the National Highway between Srinagar and cordon and searches at several places after the inputs of militant movement to create trouble during elections. However, no one was arrested.
