Inter-Zonal District level competitions kick off in Jammu

JAMMU, July 23: The Inter-Zonal District level competitions for boys in Badminton, Table Tennis, Basketball and Handball commenced at various venues, here today.
The event also includes inter-school district level hockey trials at KK Hakku Stadium, Jammu. Zones Jammu, Gandhi Nagar, and RS Pura excelled in several disciplines on the first day.
Organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports District Jammu, the competitions are held under the patronage of Director Youth Services and Sports JK UT and Subhash Chander Chibber and the guidance of Joint Director Youth Services and Sports Jammu Ved Parkash. The event is supervised by DYSSO Jammu Sunil Kumar and in-charge Ram Murti Sharma.
As per a statement, over 550 boys participated across different venues, showcasing their talent to advance to higher levels of competition.
In Under-14 category of table tennis, Zone Jammu clinched first place by defeating Zone Gandhi Nagar and in U-17 Boys, Zone Jammu triumphed over Zone Gandhi Nagar in the finals at MA Stadium.
In Badminton’s U-17 Boys Semi-Finals, Zone Gandhi Nagar beat Zone Satwari by 2-0, while Zone Jammu defeated Zone Akhnoor by 2-0. The final between Zone Gandhi Nagar and Zone Jammu is scheduled for tomorrow.
In U-14 Boys Semi-Finals, Zone Jammu beat Zone Bishnah 2-0, and Zone Gandhi Nagar overcame Zone Satwari by 2-1. The final will be played tomorrow.
In Handball’s U-14 Boys Final, Zone Jammu defeated Zone RS Pura by six goals at Dogra Ground Shastri Nagar, and in U-17 Boys Final, Zone Jammu beat Zone RS Pura by five points.
In Basketball, Zone Gandhi Nagar defeated Zone Marh by 15-9 in U-14 Boys event and Zone Akhnoor defeated Zone Jammu by 14-2 while as in U-17 Boys, Zone Jammu beat Zone RS Pura by 16-9, Zone Miran Sahib triumphed over Zone Satwari by 23-8, and Zone Akhnoor overcame Zone Bhalwal by 23-31 at MA Stadium.
The competitions continue tomorrow, promising more exciting matches and performances.
