JAMMU, July 28: In a significant boost for Taekwondo in Jammu and Kashmir, State Awardee and Sher-e-Kashmir Awardee Atul Pangotra has joined India Taekwondo. The announcement was made at an event in Jammu, graced by Namdev Shirgaonkar, President of India Taekwondo, who visited the Union Territory to review the sport’s affairs and engage with stakeholders.
Namdev Shirgaonkar used the occasion to felicitate notable international athletes from the region, including two-time World Para Taekwondo Silver Medalist Chandeep Singh, International Taekwondo Player and Fit India Ambassador Danish Manzoor, Brinder Singh Manhas, Narinder Sharma, and Arvind Satti. He praised Master Pangotra’s relentless efforts in promoting Taekwondo in Jammu and Kashmir, helping to make it one of the region’s most popular sports.
Highlighting India Taekwondo’s inclusive approach, Shirgaonkar stated, “Our championships are open to athletes regardless of their club affiliations. Our goal is to promote Taekwondo and prepare Indian athletes for the Olympics.” He also announced the upcoming Champion of Champion League, a qualifying event for international tournaments.
