JAMMU, July 29: Ritvik defeated Sourav by 3-1 in the finals of the Men’s Singles, whereas Mishti Agarwal emerged winner in Women’s final defeating Nitya Arora by three games to one, in the ongoing 2nd J&K Table Tennis Ranking Championship being organized by J&K Table Tennis Association under the aegis of J&K Sports Council.
The Men’s final was a close contest with both the players giving all they had but Ritvik closing on the final in style to take the match and Championship by 3-1. Earlier in the Men’s Semi Finals Maanay gave a tough resistance to Sourav but finally went down by 2-3. In the other semi finals, Ritvik defeated Akash by 3-1.
Chief guest on the occasion was Sanjay Wahi, president J&K Table Tennis Association, who witnessed the final match and distributed the prizes amongst the winners. The chief guest also assured the association of any help what so ever for uplifting the game of Table Tennis in the UT and also motivated the emerging champions to give their best in the national level events also.
Other results of the Day: Syrah Dewan defeated Alena Arora in Hops Girs (Under 11), Saiyam Nischal thrashed Aarav Gandotra in Hops Boys (Under-11), Saiyam beat Aadvik Garg in Cadet Boys (Under 13) and Myrah Dewan defeated Syrah Dewani in Cadet Girls (Under 13).
Ritvik Gupta beat Ahaan in Sub Junior Boys (Under 15), Nitya Arora defeated Myrah Dewan in Sub Junior Girls (Under-15), Ritvik Gupta thrashed Hunny in Junior Boys (Under 17), Nitya Arora beat Mishti Agarwal in Junior Girls (Under 17) as well as Junior Girls (Under 19), Ritvik Gupta defeated Madhav Sharma in Junior Boys (Under 19), Ritvik Gupta thrashed Sourav Sharma in Men category and Mishti Aggarwal beat Nitya Arora in Women category.
Prominent among those present on the occasion were Baljinder Pal Singh (Divisional Sports Officer), Satbir Singh, Suraj Bhan, Manager Indoor Sports Complex, Rajan Sharma, IP Singh, Satish Gupta, Meenu Rajesh, Vasu Dewan, Narinder Singh and Maninder Singh.
