Farmers need Govt attention: Sadhotra

JAMMU, July 1: Former Minister and senior NC leader, Ajay Sadhotra (MLC) has said that farming has become too much costlier and farmers need first attention of the Government. Addressing a public meeting at Sangechak (Rattanpur) in Marh today. Mr. Sadhotra expressed its concern over the curtailment of funds of Central sponsored scheme Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY) in the State. He said the farmers are facing lot of difficulties as the farming had become costlier and return of the crop is very less. He urged the Government to take immediate effective measures to ensure that the farmers get benefit of their crops.
He demanded that the Crop Insurance Scheme should be strictly implemented in the State so that in case of any damage to the crop the farmers could get cost of the crop. Delay in implementing Crop Insurance Scheme has caused frustration among farmers, Mr. Sadhotra said.
Mr. Sadhotra further emphasized the need of ensuring that every farmer gets Kissan Credit Card so that he could manage his farming and crop easily. J&K Bank has introduced Kissan Credit Scheme. It needs to be got implemented in letter and spirit by the Agriculture Department, he added.
