JAMMU, Aug 11: The All India Sainik Schools National Games Group-A Sports and Cultural Meet 2024, a prestigious event in the Sainik Schools calendar, concluded, at Sainik School Nagrota, here today.
The event, which began on August 6, 2024, saw participation from eight Sainik Schools across Group-A, including Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir.
The closing ceremony was held at the Major Somnath Sharma PVC Stadium and was graced by the Director General of Police, (DGP) Jammu & Kashmir, RR Swain, who presided as the chief guest. The chief guest officially declared the meet closed, bringing an end to four days of intense competition and camaraderie.

International bodybuilder Vimaljit, who recently won a Bronze Medal at the South Asian Bodybuilding Championship in the Maldives, met Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha at Raj Bhawan. Vimaljit was accompanied by Rajesh Dutta, General Secretary of the Body Builders Association J&K, and presented a memento to the LG on behalf of the Association. LG Manoj Sinha congratulated Vimaljit for his international achievement.

Throughout the event, cadets competed in a wide range of sports and cultural activities. Sainik School Nagrota, the host school, made a mark by winning the Volleyball trophy for the second consecutive year. Sainik School Kunjpura clinched the Basketball Championship, while Sainik School Sujanpur Tira emerged victorious in the Hockey Championship. The competition for the overall championship was fierce, with Sainik School Kunjpura ultimately emerging as the Overall Champions, securing 108 points and finishing ahead of the runner-up, Sainik School Nagrota.
Among the PPP Model Sainik Schools, RIRS, Fatehabad, shone in athletics, winning the Athletics Trophy for Sub Junior Boys. Cadet Avinash Kumar from RLGS, Solan, was named Best Athlete in Boys Sub-Juniors, while Cadet Vritika from Sainik School Kunjpura and Cadet Arushi from Sainik School Kapurthala were recognized as Best Athletes in Girls Sub-Juniors and Junior Girls, respectively. The cultural competition added a vibrant touch to the event, with Sainik School Sujanpur Tira declared the winner, showcasing the diverse talents of the cadets beyond the sports field.
RR Swain appreciated all participants for their dedication, sportsmanship, and camaraderie, emphasizing the importance of such events in fostering unity, discipline, and a competitive spirit among future leaders. He also praised Sainik School Nagrota for its impeccable organization and hospitality, ensuring the success of the All India Sainik Schools National Games Group-A Sports and Cultural Meet 2024.
Captain (IN) Shibu Devasia, the Principal of Sainik School Nagrota, extended his gratitude to the chief guest, dignitaries, and officials, and commended the performance of all the contingents. The event concluded on a high note, leaving a lasting impression on all participants.
