JAMMU, Apr 11: BJP leader Brig (Retd) Anil Gupta has refuted the claim of senior Congress leader that the sitting MP of Congress that party has done a lot of work for the ex-servicemen community in Jammu region.
In a statement issued here today he challenged the Congress Party to list at even a single achievement of the said MP affecting the ex-servicemen during his 10 year tenure. The ex-servicemen of J&K have been fighting for exemption of VAT on CSD goods but the Coalition Government, of which Congress is a major partner, has failed to concede to this genuine demand.
The Dogra Certificate issue wherein the local Congress leadership meekly surrendered to the whims and fancies of the NC leadership, is very fresh in the minds of the ex-servicemen and their families. The poor youth of Jammu is being denied the benefits available to Dogras for recruitment in the army and the Central Para Military Forces. Even the just demand of One Rank One Pension (OROP) has not been supported by the Congress MP in the Parliament.
Brig. Gupta further said that it is only BJP which is genuine and sincere towards the welfare of ex-servicemen. The manifesto of BJP is the live example of this. He urged the ex-servicemen community of the State not to fall prey to this false and malicious propaganda of some political leaders. He further appealed to them to vote for change this time and vote for BJP and Narendra Modi, party’s Prime Ministerial nominee.
