REASI, Aug 22:  The Zone Pouni Inter-School Girls Under-19 Tournament 2024 was held at Government High School Dadoo, with over 100 athletes from four Government Higher Secondary Schools participating. The event featured competitions in Volleyball, Kho-Kho, Kabaddi, and Tug Of War, showcasing the talent and competitive spirit of young female athletes.
Anuradha Sharma, the first NIS female Coach from Jammu & Kashmir, inaugurated the tournament. She praised the participants and field staff for their dedication, despite challenging weather conditions. Sharma also announced plans for a coaching camp to promote women’s wrestling in District Reasi. The tournament, organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports, Zone Pouni, included trials for zone-level representation in carrom, chess, wrestling, and skipping rope. The matches were officiated by a team of sports officials, ensuring the smooth conduct of the event.
The results were Volleyball: GHSS Pouni defeated HSS Laiter to claim the title. Kho-Kho: GHSS Pouni emerged victorious against HSS Bharakh. Kabaddi: HSS Ransoo won against HSS Bharakh and in Tug of War:HSS Bharakh defeated HSS Laiter.
