RAJOURI, Aug 24: The two-day Districts Judo Championship for Rajouri and Poonch concluded today at the District Coach Centre in Rajouri, drawing nearly 100 judokas from both districts.
The event was organized by the Districts Association of Rajouri and Poonch, with support from the Judo Association Jammu and Kashmir, J&K Sports Council and J&K Olympic Association.
The opening ceremony was led by Yasmine Kouser (president, Rajouri District Judo Association) while the closing ceremony featured chief guest Fatima Parveen, Assistant Professor at Degree College Rajouri. The guest of honour was Shabir Ahmed (Incharge, Sports Stadium Rajouri) and Sumit Bhargave (a renowned journalist) was special guest. The bouts were officiated by Judo Instructor Manish Chatwal and Sonakshi Bhagata.
In the Rajouri District, the gold medals were awarded to Wajid Ali, Mohd Nadeem, Mohd Shahid, Asad Safir, Mohd Mushaib, Hasan Ali, Areef Mustafa, Ayuk Sharma, Naksh, Nadia Mujhaid, Mannat Fatima, Haoiba Fatime, Aisha Firdous, Arina Altaf, Maishas Owais, Barvi, Taiba Kouser, Amodhini, and Liba Zehra. Silver medals were earned by Prisha, Aaliya, Saavi, Haseena Jaffar, Manya Verma, Haseena Koser, Aleena Anwar, Makalya, Tahina, Mohd Musbaih, Ruwaid, Harigum, Areeb Ali Khan, Vihaan Mahajan, Ahmed Maznroor, Vansh Vaid and Rajat Singh while bronze medals went to Husnain Ahmed, Saransh Dev Singh, Zayan, Ali Khan, Asaman Nazar, Samar Suri, Aardhya Pal, Aleena Javid, Sohana Kouser, Anaya Lone, Dania, Ayat, Amin Mustafa, Awina Mir and Prachi Verma.
In the Poonch District, gold medals were won by Mohd Yasir, Moula Baksh, Zulfkar Hussain, Abdul Shakoor, Shazia, Sonakshi, Renu, Fiza, Zahoor and Wilson whereas silver medals were awarded to Rifat, Heena, Sapna, Sandhya, Pankaj, Sushma, Hafiz, Manzoor and Rohit. Bronze medals went to Ariva Nigat, Hafiza, Yasmeen, Suriya, Gulzar, Kajal, Fida Hussain and Subash.
