POONCH, Aug 24: The Inter-District Divisional Level Football Tournament, organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports (YSS) in Poonch, concluded with District Jammu emerging as the champion.
The tournament, held under the U-14 and U-17 age group categories for girls, witnessed fierce competition and exceptional talent from various districts in the region. Guided by Rajinder Singh Tara (DG YSS), the event was marked by enthusiasm and sportsmanship, with teams from across the Jammu Division showcasing their skills and determination.
The closing day of the tournament saw an intense final match in the Under-17 category, where District Jammu faced off against District Poonch. The match was a true showcase of competitive spirit and athletic skill, with both teams displaying remarkable football prowess. After a closely contested game, District Jammu secured the championship title by defeating District Poonch by 3-2 in a thrilling penalty shootout.
Speaking on the occasion, Mool Raj Uttam (DYSSO Poonch) highlighted the event’s crucial role in nurturing young talent and promoting sports at the grassroots level.
The closing ceremony was graced by the presence of notable dignitaries, including Nirdosh Kumar, Manager of Sports Stadium Poonch; Narjeet Singh, Retired SPEO; Premprakash Luthra, retired DYSSO; Mushtaq Ahmed, Manager of Indoor Stadium Poonch; as well as all ZPEOs and field staff of DYSS Poonch.
