Police fires in Awantipora

Srinagar, Apr 12: Police this evening fired in air after a car jumped a police naka in Awantipora area of South Kashmir on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway.
Deputy Inspector General of Police, South Kashmir, Vijay Kumar, told Excelsior that a car jumped a police naka in Awantipora and police fired in air to stop it. “However, no one fired from the car”, he added.
A police party immediately followed the car and it was found abandoned near Chursu, 4 kilometers from Awantipora.
The DIG said that the police party suspected that militants were in the car who jumped the naka but it is not clear yet. He said that police is investigating.
