JAMMU, Aug 29: MIER College of Education organized an interactive session here today, focused on the “Impact of AI on the Creative Thinking Process.” The session featured Professor Bipin Indurkhya from Jagiellonian University, Poland, an expert in artificial intelligence and creativity. The event was chaired by Dr. Renu Gupta, Chairperson of MIER, along with Prof. Amitabh Ojha from IIT Jammu, and Rupa Gupta, Joint Director at MIER.
Professor Indurkhya began by discussing the essence of creativity, noting its subjective nature and emphasizing that it involves novelty and purpose, which cannot be replicated by algorithms. He explored how AI has been used to create music, art, and literature, but highlighted that AI lacks the emotional and intentional components that drive human creativity.
The session included discussions on cognitive biases and the use of Rodari’s techniques to enhance creative thinking in educational settings. Professor Indurkhya also recommended several books on AI and creativity, providing valuable resources for further exploration.
The event concluded with a Q&A session, allowing faculty to share perspectives and engage in meaningful discussions. The session was highly appreciated for its depth and relevance, offering new insights into the relationship between AI and creativity.
