JAMMU, Aug 29: Socio- Civic leader, legal advisor Muslim Rashtriya Manch (MRM) for Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh UTs and Chairman The Social Welafre Organisation Of India (TSWOOI) NGO, Malikzada Mohd Shahzad has said that the current unemployment situation in Jammu and Kashmir is alarming with many educated youth struggling to find jobs.
He also observed that J&K equally deserves its own National Law University (NLU) and has demanded its early establishment.
“Given the sheer number of unemployed individuals, it is impossible for the Government alone to provide employment to everyone. Instead of waiting for Government jobs, young people should consider becoming entrepreneurs and start their own small business ventures,” Malik said. He, however added that for those with academic qualifications, especially law students, there are still opportunities and with their knowledge, they can excel in competitive exams or join various departments. He further asserted that pursuing private practice after studying law can lead to a successful career as a top lawyer, filling a critical need in the legal field.
“Twenty one states in India have already established National Law Universities (NLUs), but J&K, despite being the 12th largest among the 28 States/ 08 UTs in terms of geographical area, institute of such repute ceases to exist here,” Malik lamented.
He added that J&K has a total number of three Government Universities and private law colleges which offer the law courses like L.L.B and B.A, L.L.B. “It is high time to improve legal education here in J&K. We need a National Law University to cater to the needs of the legal profession”, Malik suggested.
Malik appealed the Government of J&K to hasten up the process of recommendation to set up a National Law University (NLU) here, in order to bring J&K at par with other States. He further demanded the Narendra Modi led NDA Government of the Union to accord early sanction to this much required institution in wake of the unemployment scenario of the region.
