Udhampur, July 2: Police today worked out sensational blind murder case and arrested the accused.
Police spokesman said that on June 17 an information was received regarding suspicious death of one Shabir Ahmad, son of Mohd Hussain of Punnara Basantgarh, whose body was found lying in Sang forest.
Accordingly, police registered a case and a police party from Basantgarh Police Station started investigation to work out the blind murder case. After hectic efforts, Basantgarh Police succeeded in apprehending the accused namely Bashir Ahmad, son of Sayed Mohd of Sang Basantgarh, who during sustained interrogation confessed the crime committed by him.
About the motive behind the murder, the spokesman said that deceased, who used to visit the house of accused regularly, developed illicit relation with his sister namely Nagina Begam. When accused came to know about this he planned to kill Bashir Ahmad.
On June 17, when accused found Bashir Ahmad in his house he strangulated him by using rope. In order to dodge the police, he placed the body under a deodar tree.
Meanwhile, police arrested four persons, who had beaten up national secretary of Lok Jan Shakti Party Ravi Tickoo, son of Pyare Lal Tickoo of Ward No.10, Udhampur on June 29.
The accused have been identified as Raju, son of Mohan Lal of Adarsh Colony, Balwant Singh, son of Janak Singh of Subash Nagar, Upkar Gupta, son of Sham Sunder Gupta of Adarsh Colony Udhampur and Narinder Singh, son of Kehlar Singh of Govind Nagar.
