JAMMU, Sept 1: The National Incredible Literacy Mission (NILM) recently organized a school-level painting competition aimed at educating students about the importance of environmental and natural resource conservation. The event took place at Aroma Foundation Public School in Lower Roop Nagar, Jammu.
The competition was part of NILM’s initiative to raise awareness among school children about the value of preserving green wealth and essential environmental resources such as forests and water. According to Thakur KD Kurhan, Chairman of NILM, “This year, hundreds of students gained insights into environmental and water conservation through their artwork.”
The event saw active participation from school staff, including Principal Rajni Sharma, Vice Principal Kamal Sharma, and teachers Palvi Mathur, Ojesvi Tikoo, Sonali Sambyal, Manisha Khatter, Nena Hans and Shveta Sharma. At the conclusion of the competition, certificates were awarded to the participants by Rakeshwar Singh, Project Director of NILM J&K.
Rakeshwar Singh emphasized the significance of such competitions, stating, “These events are designed by our NGO to foster a positive attitude among children towards their environment. By participating, students not only explore their creative talents but also develop a more environmentally conscious mindset.”
