Kulbir of Jammu lifts Sujandhar Dangal title

REASI, Sept 2: Wrestler Kulbir Singh of Kot Bhalwal, Jammu, clinched the 1st Sujandhar Dangal title by defeating Wrestler Rajesh Sharma of Jammu and Kashmir Police in the main bout at Morha Kharkakote in Kotli Lajpat Sugandhar (Reasi). The bout, which lasted 15 minutes, saw Kulbir Singh emerge victorious, earning a cash prize of Rs 12,000. The runner-up, Rajesh Sharma, received Rs 9,000.
The Dangal was organized by the Youth Dangal Committee Kotli Lajpat Sujandhar, in collaboration with the J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association and was supervised by Nasib Singh (Chairman), Pyar Singh (President) and Pritam Singh.
In the second bout, Wrestler Bablu of J&K Police (resident of Basantgarh, Udhampur) faced Wrestler Baghu of Kathua. The bout resulted in a draw after 21 minutes, and both wrestlers were jointly awarded a cash prize of Rs 18,000. The third main bout saw Madan Singh of Reasi defeating Wrestler Amit of J&K Police (resident of RS Pura). Madan Singh received a cash prize of Rs 9,000, while runner-up Amit got Rs 6,000.
The fourth bout was won by Sanjay of J&K Police, who defeated Zaker of Lalian, Punjab. Sanjay was awarded Rs 7,000, and the runner-up, Zaker, received Rs 5,000. DDC Chairman Reasi, Saraf Singh Nag, was the chief guest on the occasion who presented the cash prizes to the wrestlers. The event was presided over by Shiv Kumar Sharma, former Joint Secretary of the J&K State Sports Council and President of the J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association. Thakur Sohan Singh, a social activist, was the guest of honour, while Sub Inspector Amit Singh was a special guest. Other notable attendees included former Sarpanch Amar Nath, BJP Bhomag Mandal Pardhan Pawan Singh, and social activist Bhuri Singh.
A total of 75 bouts were conducted during the day-long event, with Rs 1, 80,000 distributed as cash prizes among the wrestlers by the chief guest. The Dangal was successfully organized with the support of committee members, including Nasib Singh, Pyar Singh, Pritam Singh, Bodh Raj, Shambu Nath, Ajit Singh, Ratten Singh, Ashok Singh, Baldev Singh, Prithvi Singh, Nirmal Kumar, Major Singh, Chanchal Singh, Prem Singh, Mohd. Mustaq, Balwan Singh, Harnam Singh, Yash Pal Singh, Sanju, Romal Singh, Omkar Singh, Ranjeet Singh, Rajinder Singh and Dalair Singh (Panch).
