KARGIL, Sept 5: The Indian Army’s five-day Inter-Village Volleyball Tournament in Batalik has been a significant event, fostering unity and sportsmanship among the youth of Ladakh’s Border villages. The tournament featured eight teams from Batalik, Gurgurdo, Sarchae, Silmoo, Lalung, and Chulichang.
In a thrilling final, Sarchae emerged victorious over Chulichang. The tournament was well-attended, with Feroz Ahmed Khan, the sitting Councillor of Silmoo and former CEC of LAHDC Kargil, gracing the event as the chief guest. Khan praised the Indian Army’s efforts to engage with local youth, highlighting the positive impact of such events on physical fitness and sports development. He encouraged the younger generation to pursue sports professionally and commended all participants for their sportsmanship.
The initiative was received by the local community, reinforcing the value of sports in promoting personal growth and community cohesion in the border regions.
