JAMMU, Sept 7: The 3rd J&K Table Tennis Ranking Championship 2024 concluded with Pratham Raina clinching the Men’s singles title and Mishti Agarwal lifted the Women’s singles trophy. The tournament held under the aegis of the J&K Table Tennis Association and J&K Sports Council’s initiative “My Youth My Pride,” showcased intense competition across various age categories.
In the Men’s singles final, Pratham Raina narrowly defeated Maanay Mansotra with a score of 3-2, showcasing remarkable skill and resilience. The match was a thrilling contest, with both players delivering an exceptional performance. Earlier in the semi-finals, Pratham overcame Madhav Sharma by 3-1, while Maanay secured his place by defeating Sourav by 3-0.
Mishti Agarwal emerged victorious in the Women’s singles final, overcoming Nitya Arora with a score of 3-2. The match was closely contested, reflecting the high level of competition in the women’s category.
The tournament also featured notable performances in other categories. Alena Arora and Saiyam Nischal won the Under-11 titles in their respective categories. In the Under-13 and Under-15 categories, Saiyam Nischal, Myrah Dewan, Nitya Arora and other emerging players showcased their talents. The Junior Boys and Girls, as well as the Senior Men and Women’s events were also highly competitive.
Chief guest Satbir Singh, a former international table tennis player, attended the finals and distributed prizes among the winners. He commended the organizers for their successful execution of the tournament and encouraged the players to excel at the national level. Guest of honour Maninder Singh and Sheetal Gandotra, both national TT players, also graced the event with their presence.
Baljinder Pal Singh, Divisional Sports Officer; Suraj Bhan, Manager of the Indoor Sports Complex; Rajan Sharma; Meenu Rajesh; Vasu Dewan; Narinder Singh and Maninder Singh were among other dignitaries present on the occasion.
The Championship was celebrated for its exceptional sportsmanship and competitive spirit, reflecting the growing interest and talent in table tennis within the region.
