JAMMU, Sept 7: At a notable event organized at Hotel Le Meridien in Delhi, S.S. Sodhi, President of the J&K Rifle Association, had the opportunity to meet Olympian Manu Bhaker. The discussion focused on the progress made by the J&K Rifle Association and the impressive achievements of shooters from Jammu & Kashmir. Manu Bhaker, who recently won two bronze medals at the Paris 2024 Olympics in the women’s 10m air pistol and the mixed team events with Sarabjot Singh, was praised for setting a new standard for Indian shooting sports.
Sodhi highlighted the advancement in nurturing young shooting talent, particularly the notable performances of female shooters at national and international levels. He invited Manu Bhaker to visit Jammu to inspire and share her expertise with local athletes. Bhaker expressed her enthusiasm about the accomplishments of J&K shooters and confirmed her intention to visit Jammu soon.
Sodhi also acknowledged the support from the J&K Government, the Sports Council, and other sports authorities, including LG Manoj Sinha, for their role in the development of shooting sports in the region. He noted the establishment of the first shooting range in J&K by Delhi Public School in Jammu as a significant milestone for the local shooting community.
