JAMMU, Sept 8: In a major step to enhance sports infrastructure and mentorship at Uttarakhand University, Vice Chancellor Dr. Dharam Buddhi has appointed former Indian footballer Arun Malhotra as the new Advisor for Sports. The appointment was formalized during a meeting at the Vice Chancellor’s office on September 7.
Arun Malhotra, who is also a Technical Member of the All India Football Federation (AIFF), expressed his excitement about the new role. “I am honoured to be given this opportunity to contribute to the development of sports at the university. My goal is to nurture young talent and foster a robust sports culture,” Malhotra said.
Dr. Buddhi highlighted the significance of Malhotra’s appointment, noting that his extensive experience and dedication will greatly benefit the university’s sports programs. The meeting also focused on upcoming sports events, infrastructure improvements, and strategies to boost student participation in various sports activities.
Malhotra plans to implement regular training sessions, workshops with professional athletes, and inter-university competitions. Students and faculty have welcomed the appointment, anticipating positive changes and new achievements in the university’s sports domain. A formal ceremony will be held to officially welcome Malhotra and outline future initiatives for sports development.
