JAMMU, Sept 10: SAI Jammu has launched Project KIRTI (Khelo India Rising Talent Identification) with the aim of discovering and nurturing young sports talent in preparation for the 2036 Olympics, which India aspires to host.
This initiative, overseen by the Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, seeks to identify promising athletes from school children and provide them with systematic training through various SAI training centers and academies.
In the first phase of Project KIRTI, approximately 800 students from APS Ratnuchak and APS Sunjwan will undergo testing from September 9 to 12. The assessments will be conducted by coaches from SAI and JKSC. The collected data will be analyzed at the Sports Science centers of SAI to identify the most talented individuals for formal training.
Aman Sharma, High Performance Director of SAI and In-charge of STC Jammu, emphasized that identifying the right talent is crucial for achieving high-level sports performance. He expressed gratitude to JKSC and the management of APS Ratnuchak and APS Sunjwan for their support in the successful execution of the project’s first phase.
