JAMMU, Sept 19: Senior BJP leader and Jammu West candidate, Arvind Gupta, today claimed that leaders of National Conference and Congress have been making irrelevant statements about restoration of Statehood of Jammu and Kashmir.
“Their statements are inappropriate since the BJP Government has already committed to restoring the Statehood after the upcoming Assembly polls,” Gupta said in a statement.
Gupta challenged Congress and NC to explain how they plan to combat terrorism, which he claimed was a result of their previous governance. He also questioned Congress’s stance on Article 370, asking whether it supports the NC’s push to revive the provision.
He further described the Congress-NC alliance as a “marriage of convenience” aimed at regaining power, but expressed confidence that voters would reject their efforts.
Gupta urged the people of J&K to make a decisive choice in the upcoming elections, emphasizing that the BJP is the only party capable of leading the region toward peace, prosperity, and national unity.
Earlier, Gupta conducted several public meetings and a door-to-door campaign in areas including Ward No. 33, Ranjeetpur, and Bakshi Nagar. He sought support from voters, promising to address their concerns and promote genuine development if elected.
Key BJP leaders, including Munish Khajuria, Keshav Chopra, and Anil Singh Rakwal, accompanied Gupta during the campaign.
