JAMMU, Sept 21: MIER College of Education organized a three-day workshop on “Digital Skills and AI Tools”, aimed at enhancing the digital literacy of students from the School of Education, batch 2023-25.
The workshop was a collaborative effort between the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and the Centre for Educational Technology and was led by Parmveer Nandal, Founder of Techible, an initiative by IIT Jammu alumni. Techible has been actively working with educational institutions and organizations in Jammu & Kashmir, in partnership with IIT Jammu and the J&K Government Administration, to equip individuals with industry-relevant digital skills.
The workshop focused on essential digital tools and skills crucial for today’s tech-driven environment. Key topics covered included Google Workspace for improved productivity, utility tools and browser extensions, Canva for graphic design, freelancing opportunities, AI tools, generative AI technologies, and personal branding on LinkedIn.
The sessions provided hands-on experience, with students learning how to use Google Workspace effectively and leverage utility tools to streamline digital workflows. They also received training in Canva for both academic and professional purposes, and explored the gig economy through the freelancing module.
Nandal’s session on AI tools and generative AI offered participants insights into how these technologies are reshaping industries and improving productivity, particularly in content creation and automation. The final segment on LinkedIn branding taught students how to optimize their profiles for professional networking and career growth.
The workshop provided students with practical digital skills that align with evolving industry trends. It helped them develop essential competencies for the modern workplace and contributed to their academic and professional growth, in line with IQAC’s vision for enhanced digital literacy.
