Theft case worked out in 48 hours: Police

JAMMU, Sept 21: With the arrest of one individual, police in Jammu’s Bishnah area claimed to have worked out a theft case within 48 hours. A stolen bike has also been recovered from the arrested individual.
A police official said that on September 18, one Surjan Singh son of Shankar Dass of Chimbian Jattan, Bishnah alleged theft of his motorcycle.
On this, he said, a case FIR number 146/2024 under the relevant sections of the law was registered at Police Station Bishnah and investigation taken up.
During investigation, he said, a police team headed by SHO Bishnah under the supervision of SDPO RS Pura and SP Headquarters Jammu arrested one person, who upon sustained questioning confessed to his involvement in the crime.
Accordingly, the accused person identified as Varun Kumar of Bhaga Morh, RS Pura, district Jammu was arrested and stolen bike was recovered from his possession, he said.
Further investigation into the case is underway, he added.
