BJP holds rally in Khandwal

JAMMU, Sept 22: At a political event in Khandwal, Jammu, BJP MP Anurag Thakur launched a blistering attack on opposition parties, accusing them of stalling development in Jammu and Kashmir and harboring destructive intentions.
The event, organized by BJP leader and former Sarpanch Sonam Deep Singh Aulakh, was held in support of Dr. Narinder Singh, the BJP candidate for Jammu South. Thakur criticized the National Conference (NC), Congress, People’s Democratic Party (PDP), and Pakistan, claiming they all share a common goal of hindering progress in the region.
Thakur alleged that these parties have historically neglected the welfare of the common people, focusing instead on their personal and familial interests. He argued that Prime Minister, Narendra Modi’s Government has initiated crucial development projects in Jammu and Kashmir, which these parties are actively trying to sabotage. Thakur reiterated the BJP’s commitment to the region, contrasting it with the alleged indifference shown by the NC, Congress, and PDP.
In a scathing critique, Thakur took aim at Farooq Abdullah, the leader of the National Conference, accusing him of playing a double game by making different statements in Delhi and Kashmir to suit his political agenda. He also criticized Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, accusing him of tarnishing India’s image on international platforms.
Thakur further criticized the Congress party, invoking the 1984 anti-Sikh riots to highlight what he described as the party’s history of violence and betrayal. He accused former Prime Minister, Rajiv Gandhi of being responsible for the atrocities against Sikhs during his tenure.
In linking Congress’s actions with those of Pakistan, Thakur referenced a controversial statement by Pakistan’s Defence Minister, Khawaja Asif. Asif had suggested that Pakistan and the Congress-National Conference alliance in Jammu and Kashmir were aligned in their desire to restore Article 370, which granted special autonomy to Jammu and Kashmir before it was revoked in 2019. Thakur claimed that this alliance with Pakistan further demonstrated the opposition’s vested interest in creating instability in the region.
Dr. Narinder Singh, the BJP candidate from Jammu South, spoke during the event and emphasized his dedication to the welfare of the people. He encouraged his constituents to view him as one of them, pledging to work tirelessly for their betterment.
He underscored the BJP’s focus on development and progress, promising to elevate the standard of living in the constituency.
Sonam Deep Singh Aulakh, who organized the event, lauded Dr. Narinder Singh for his humility and commitment to public service.
Aulakh took a swipe at the NC and Congress, likening voting for them to eating from soiled plates or wearing torn clothes-an option that people would naturally reject. DDC member Geetu Aulakh also spoke on the occasion.
DDC member Geetu Aulakh, who was also present, echoed Thakur and Aulakh’s sentiments. She expressed confidence in the people’s support for the BJP, assuring Thakur and Singh that her constituency would deliver an overwhelming victory for the party.
According to Geetu Aulakh, the margin of Dr. Narinder Singh’s victory would be so significant that it would be a source of pride for the constituency on counting day.
