Jammu wins Inter-District UT Badminton C’ship

SRINAGAR, Sept 23: In the final of the inter-district UT Badminton Championship for girls under 17, the Jammu district team delivered an impressive performance, defeating Srinagar district by 2-0 to win the trophy. The event, organized by the Youth Services and Sports Department, took place in Srinagar.
Suhani from Jammu clinched the singles title, defeating Maysha in straight sets, 21-10, 21-4. In the doubles match, the duo of Yashwini Amit Pandoh and Gania Singh also dominated, beating their Srinagar opponents 21-10, 21-6.
The victories not only secured the championship for Jammu but also led to the selection of five players for the National School Games in Madhya Pradesh, scheduled for November 21. The selected players are Yashaswini, Amit Pandoh, Gania Singh, Diamond Rajput, Suhani, and Mysha. This championship saw participation from around 20 districts, showcasing the rising popularity of badminton in the region.
