SAD submits memorandum, support letter to Farooq

JAMMU, Sept 24: The J&K unit of Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar), today submitted a memorandum and support letter to the National Conference president, Dr Farooq Abdullah.
Led by J&K unit president of the SAD (Amristsar), Narinder Singh Khalsa, former president Gurdev Singh and general secretary- Ram Singh besides others, the delegation called on former J&K Chief Minister and NC president, Dr Farooq Abdullah at party office, Residency Road, Jammu today and submitted a support letter to the National Conference.
They also submitted a memorandum in advance for the consideration of the National Conference chief. They demanded political reservation for the Sikhs in the Jammu and Kashmir claiming that in many pockets of J&K, Sikh community dominates and has good population.
They also demanded Minorities status for the Sikh community in the Jammu and Kashmir. They said like other minorities, Sikh community also be granted Minority status.
They demanded implementation of Wadhwa Committee Report and recommendations of Joint Parliamentary Committee with regard to one time package to the refugees of POJK of 1947. They sought to provide due place to the Punjabi language in J&K by declaring it official language along with five other local languages.
They further demanded installation of statue of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur at Kunjwani Chowk in Jammu and make Ansari Commission report of 1989 public and hold probe into Chittisingpora carnage.
They hoped that the National Conference president, Dr Farooq Abdullah would consider their demands after his party comes to power in Jammu and Kashmir.
