JAMMU, Sept 25: Thakur Manmohan Singh, Congress candidate from Jammu West today promised that his party will give more power to women, if voted to power in J&K.
Addressing a public meeting, Manmohan Singh emphasized the importance of women empowerment for the country’s progress.
He stressed that women are the backbone of Indian households and criticized the BJP for destroying the kitchen budget due to high cylinder prices, edible oil prices, and food-related inflation.
He highlighted the Congress manifestoes promises of interest-free loans for women in Jammu and Kashmir and a monthly stipend of Rs 3000 for female heads of families.
“We believe that women are the key to development and we will do everything to empower them, after we are voted in power,” Singh said.
“We promise to increase ration supply, provide subsidized cylinders and reduce food inflation to make life easier for the people of Jammu and Kashmir,” he added.
Singh has generated a lot of enthusiasm among the voters and his campaign is gaining momentum in Jammu West constituency.
Singh also expressed his gratitude towards the Supreme Court of India for taking note of the lack of democracy in Jammu and Kashmir and ordering the BJP and ECI to reinstate democracy and revive electoral politics in the region.
