‘Worst condition of Jammu roads’

JAMMU, Sept 25: Congress-NC candidate from Jammu East Yogesh Sawhney sharply criticized the state of infrastructure in Jammu City, calling it a far cry from the promises of a “Smart City.”
Speaking during his ongoing tour of the constituency, Sawhney expressed concern over the deteriorating condition of roads, lanes and other public infrastructure. “The streets are riddled with potholes, drainage is ineffective, and basic amenities are lacking. How can this be called a Smart City?” he questioned.
Sawhney highlighted that during his interactions with the public, the most common grievance was the poor state of roads and civic facilities. He noted that several areas in Jammu East, despite being a part of a significant urban centre, were in dire need of basic infrastructure upgrades.
“People too are constantly talking about the crumbling infrastructure. This is not development, this is neglect. It exposes Smart City claims of BJP,” Cong leader asserted.
Accusing the current regime of failing to address these concerns, Sawhney argued that the Smart City project has been reduced to nothing more than a political slogan. “Jammu’s roads are practically unfit for commuting, and the lanes are narrow and damaged. The reality on the ground stands in stark contrast to the glossy promises made by the administration,” he added.
He said that the pressing needs of the citizens need to be addressed. He said that the Congress aims to work on rectifying these issues, ensuring that Jammu City gets the attention it deserves.
“A Smart City is one where the basics work efficiently. Unfortunately, under the current regime, Jammu has only seen a decline in its infrastructural standards,” Sawhney asserted.
