SAMBA, Sept 25: The District Election Office (DEO), Samba, under the guidance of DC Rajesh Sharma, commenced an exercise today to conduct home voting through postal ballots for absentee voters in the categories of Senior Citizens (AVSC), Persons with Disabilities (AVPD), and COVID-19 Suspects or Affected Persons (AVCO).
This initiative ensures that every eligible voter in these special categories can cast their vote conveniently from their homes across the three constituencies of Vijaypur, Samba, and Ramgarh.
Polling teams deployed for the exercise on the first day covered numerous voters across the district. The comprehensive outreach was aimed at ensuring that every eligible voter is able to exercise their democratic right, regardless of health or mobility challenges.
The total absentee voters covered in the exercise include 167 in Vijaypur, 170 in Samba and 49 in Ramgarh.
As part of the initiative, DEO Rajesh Sharma personally visited several locations in the district, including Khour Salarian, where he interacted with home voters and received feedback on the process. He commended the polling teams for their efforts in ensuring extensive coverage, reaching voters even in remote areas on this first day of the exercise.
The DEO praised the commitment of the teams, acknowledging their hard work in covering the district comprehensively and ensuring last-mile connectivity. He emphasized that no eligible voter should be left behind, particularly those in vulnerable categories.
