JAMMU, Sept 26: The second and final day of Inter College Chess Tournament 2024, held at Government College of Education, Jammu concluded with GGM Science College securing victories in both Men and Women categories.
In Men’s category, GGM Science College triumphed over Govt. SPMR College of Commerce with a score of 3-1. Similarly, in Women’s category, GGM Science College outplayed GCW Gandhi Nagar, securing victory with a 3-1 score-line.
These wins led GGM Science College to emerge as the overall champion in both sections of the tournament.
Proceedings for the day were convened by Dr. Rakesh Bharti. The entire event was organized under the supervision of Dr. Vinod Bakshi, Director Sports, Cluster University of Jammu.
The successful organization of the event was further strengthened by the efforts of the College Sports Committee, with contributions from Prof. Satish Sharma, Dr. Davinder Kour, Prof. Balwan Singh, Dr. Shalini Rana, Prof. Chanchal Singh, Prof. Priyanka Mahajan, Prof. Kiran Thapa, Prof. Roopa Kumari and Dr. Suraj Prakash.
The special guest for the ceremony was Dr. Jyoti Parihar, Principal, Govt. College of Education, Jammu and chief guest at closing ceremony was Dr. Zubair M. Kalees, who concluded the event by commending the players for their dedication and sportsmanship.
Other dignitaries in attendance included Neenu, Physical Director of MAM College, Ravi Kumar, Physical Director of SPMR College of Commerce, Kajal Premi, Physical Director of GCW Gandhi Nagar, Jammu, Neelam Kumari, Assistant Physical Director of MAM College, Prof. Arun Sharma and Prof. Arti Heer. Shushil Kumar officiated the matches.
Vote of thanks was given by Prof. Ramandeep Kralia, Physical Director of Govt. College of Education.
The tournament concluded with the awarding of medals to the players.
Members of the winning teams were honored with gold medals, while the runner-up teams were presented with silver medals.
