MENDHAR, Sept 26: BJP candidate from Mendhar, Advocate Murtaza Khan, raised serious allegations against the police administration during a press conference. He accused the SDPO Mendhar of bias attitude towards his party workers and their harassment.
Khan stated that on September 21, during a rally of Home Minister, Amit Shah his workers were harassed by the police. Following this, on September 25, during polling, the SDPO Mendhar allegedly entered polling booth number 36 and physically assaulted his polling agent, Wajid Bashir Khan.
In the press briefing, Khan further alleged that the police had filed a false FIR against his polling agent, Wajid Bashir Khan, who is also a DDC member. He claimed that an Investigation Officer (IO), a Sub Inspector, along with 30 personnel from the Special Operations Group (SOG), raided Wajid’s house merely to serve a notice.
Khan questioned the necessity of sending 30 SOG personnel to a DDC member’s house to deliver a notice, terming it police excess. He called the act unjust and demanded strict action against the SDPO Mendhar.
BJP leader and his supporters urged the J&K DGP to take cognizance of the matter and initiate action against the Sub Divisional Police Officer.
