Kanpur Test: Bangladesh 74/2 at lunch on Day 1

Kanpur, Sep 27: The second Test between India and Bangladesh began with a competitive first session on Day 1, as Bangladesh reached 74 for the loss of two wickets by lunch here on Friday.
India’s fast bowler Akash Deep made an immediate impact, taking two crucial wickets early on. He scalped Zakir Hasan and trapped Shadman Islam leg before wicket for 24 runs, leaving Bangladesh at 29/2 after 12.1 overs.
Akash Deep bowled with discipline and accuracy, finishing the session with impressive figures of 2/14 from 6 overs, maintaining a tight economy rate of 2.33.
Despite the early setbacks, Bangladesh found some stability through Mominul Haque and Najmul Hossain Shanto. The duo put together a steady partnership of 45 runs from 83 deliveries, helping their team recover from the loss of two quick wickets.
Shanto, in particular, played a more aggressive role, striking six boundaries in his 28 off 48 balls, while Mominul adopted a more cautious approach, scoring 17 off 48 balls without taking any undue risks.
The partnership between Mominul and Shanto allowed Bangladesh to regain momentum, but India’s bowlers, led by Akash Deep, kept the pressure on.
With plenty of overs remaining in the day, India will be eager to break the partnership and make further inroads into the Bangladesh batting lineup after the lunch break. Bangladesh, on the other hand, will be looking to build on this platform and post a competitive total, with both batsmen well set at the crease. (UNI)
