JAMMU, Sept 28: Two people died and a young lady sustained injuries after the vehicle they were travelling in plunged into Chenab River in Doda district today, officials said.
They said the trio were on way to their residence in Saroor Village of Drabshalla area in Kishtwar district when their Alto car (JK17A-4753) skidded off the road and fell into Chenab river near Garsoo area of Doda district, resulting in death of two individuals on-the-spot and injuries to a teenage girl.
Bodies of Imran Hussain (35) son of Sham Din of Saroor, Kishtwar, and Sumiya (17) daughter of Riaz Ahmed of Malie Bhella have been retrieved from the river while as Iqra Bano (16) daughter of Tanveer Ahmed of Saroor, Kishtwar has been shifted to Government Medical College Doda for treatment, they said.
Meanwhile, police have registered a case under the relevant sections of the law and taken up further investigation into the matter.
