HC suspends bail of accused SPO

JAMMU, July 3: State High Court today suspended the interim bail granted to the accused, who had thrown acid on a young girl, and directed that accused be produced when the petition filed by the father of victim comes up for further consideration.
The accused Sanjeev Kumar was granted interim bail by Judicial Magistrate, R S Pura on June 5, 2012 till July 3, 2012 and the same was challenged by Yash Pal, father of the victim.
According to the police case, accused Sanjeev Kumar, who is SPO in Police Department, threw acid on young girl on April 26, 2012 when the girl was on way to her house at Banota village.
After hearing Advocate B L Kalgotra appearing for the father of victim whereas Advocate Jagjit Rai appearing for Sanjeev Kumar, Justice J P Singh observed, “keeping in view the nature of allegations against Sanjeev Kumar it may not be appropriate to permit him to move freely”.
With these observations, Justice J P Singh suspended the interim bail granted to Sanjeev Kumar by the Judicial Magistrate RS Pura.
