SRINAGAR, Sept 30: The two-day 10th UT Canoe Sprint Championship concluded at Pokhribal Lake, here today, with vibrant participation and enthusiasm. Organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Water Sports Kayaking and Canoeing Association, the event showcased the best of the region’s talent in water sports.
The championship featured 500-meter races across various categories, with over 200 participants from different parts of Kashmir competing. The event provided a platform for young athletes to demonstrate their skills and aim for higher achievements in the world of water sports. As the championship wrapped up, participants expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to compete in a supportive environment.
Prominent figures, including Bilquis Mir (Olympic Jury Member), Seema (Vice President, JKWKCA), Bilal Bhat, and Rafiq Khan (National Technical Official), graced the prize distribution and valedictory function. Organizers emphasized that the championship serves as a stepping stone for the winners, who will represent Jammu and Kashmir at the Canoe Sprint National Championship in Uttarakhand later this year.
This championship has set a promising precedent for the future of water sports in Srinagar, fostering youth participation and nurturing talent across the region.
