SRINAGAR, July 3: Dachini Pora Cricket Club Bijbehara and Friends XI Pir Bagh registered convincing wins to advance in the ongoing SDA Drabu Memorial T20 Cricket Tournament, being organized by Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Players Association (JKCPA), here.
Earlier, in the first match, Friends Eleven thrashed City Reds by 7 wickets in an easy contest. Batting first, City Reds scored a fighting total of 154 runs in the stipulated 20 overs, losing 7 wickets in the process. Imran top scored with 41 runs, while Anees and Nadeem contributed 40 and 35 runs to the total respectively. For Friends XI, Latif was the chief wrecker, who scalped 4 wickets, while Zahid claimed 2 and Fayaz one.
In reply, Friends XI chased the target in 18 overs by losing 3 wickets and won the match by 7 wickets. Mehraj top scored with 47 runs, while Ajaz and Zahid contributed 31 and 15 runs to the total respectively. Sohail, Nadeem and Parminder took one wicket each for City Reds. Latif was declared as man of the match.
In another match, Dachini Pora Club scripted a narrow win over FCC Haval by 6 runs. Dachini Pora made 140 for 7 in 20 overs, with Mushtaq, Shah Lal and Feroze contributing 27, 25 and 18 runs respectively. For FCC Haval, Javed took 2 wickets, while Danish and Irfan claimed one wicket each.
FCC in reply fell short of 6 runs as the whole side managed to score 134 for the loss of 8 wickets in 20 overs, thus lost the match by 6 runs. Javed, Mukhtar and Gulzar contributed 24, 23 and 22 runs respectively. Ghulam Nabi, Tajamul, Reyaz and Feroze claimed 2 wickets each for Dachini Pora. Feroze was adjudged man of the match by chief guest Parvez Wani, former Ranji trophy player.
