JAMMU, Oct 8: Delhi Public School (DPS) Jammu showcased its academic excellence at the Inter-DPS National Environmental Festival 2024, securing second place in the prestigious “Planet Innovate: Integrating Tech and Nature Exhibition” held at DPS Chandigarh, the event was organized by the DPS Society, New Delhi, and featured participation from 70 DPS branches across India.
Charvi Gupta and Samiksha Rai, both Class XII students from DPS Jammu, achieved this remarkable feat with their innovative project titled “Ember to Words.” Their project addressed road pollution by capturing vehicular emissions and converting them into usable ink. They used a Smoke Absorber with an IR Sensor to detect vehicles, absorb pollutants, and process them into ink-a novel solution to reduce environmental harm while generating a valuable resource.
The exhibition, part of the larger festival, aimed to promote eco-consciousness among students by encouraging them to explore technological solutions to environmental challenges. DPS Jammu was among the top 20 teams selected for the final round after excelling in a Preliminary Elimination Round (Online Quiz) based on speed and accuracy.
The project was highly praised by the judging panel for its creativity, innovation, and practical application. In addition to Charvi and Samiksha, other DPS Jammu students-Chitrani Razdan, Dhwani Jakhotra, Vaidik Taggar, Prasan Sharma, Bavleen Kour, Prikshit Sharma, Ayn Bhola, and Manya Targotra-participated in various events during the festival, contributing to the school’s success.
Principal Ruchi Chabra applauded the students’ outstanding performance and expressed her appreciation for the teachers who guided them Insha Ahmed, Preeti Sharma, Suresh Sharma, Manika Verma, Mandeep Singh, Deepika Saini, Akshay Gupta and Dr. Gurmeet Kour.
