LEH, Oct 9: Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd), attended the closing ceremony of the 68th National School Games Under-19 Table Tennis Championship in Leh here today.
The four-day event, organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) at the NDS Sports Complex, marked a significant achievement as it was the first time the National School Games Table Tennis Championship was held in Ladakh. Around 300 players from 19 States and 5 Union Territories participated in the event.
During the ceremony, Lt. Governor Mishra emphasized the importance of both mental and physical well-being, encouraging players to not only focus on individual success but also to train and inspire others. He awarded trophies to the winners, including Vanshika Mudgal (Delhi) for the U-19 singles girls’ title and S Das (West Bengal) for the U-19 singles boys’ title. Team Delhi won the U-19 girls’ team event, while Team Maharashtra triumphed in the U-19 boys’ team event.
The event was attended by several dignitaries, including first lady Neelam Mishra, CEC Advocate Tashi Gyalson, former Rajya Sabha MP Tarun Vijay, and officials from the Indian Air Force and School Games Federation of India (SGFI).
