BASM alleges political interference in managing affairs of Mata Sukrala

JAMMU, Apr 25: Baridar Association Sukrala Mata (BASM), Billawar has alleged political interference in controlling and managing the affairs of holy deity of Mata Sukrala after formation of Mata Sukrala Bala Sundri Shrine Board.
Addressing a press conference, Satish Sharma, president, BASM said that rights and interests of the Baridar should be taken care in controlling and managing of the affairs of Sukrala Mata.
He added that the genuine caretakers i.e. Uppadya Parivar who are managing the affairs of the Mata since its inception from last 600 years has been totally ignored regarding affairs of the Sukrala Mata after the formation of Mata Sukrala Bala Sundri Shrine Board.
“Earlier the affairs of the deity were with Baridars and pujaris but after the formation of the board, Government has not given any representation to Baridars and pujaries and totally ignored them.
Condemning the role of local MLA and Minister in formation of Board, Sharma said that enactment of Mata Sukrala Bala Sundri Shrine Board was totally political motivated and some have vested interests to fulfill their political designs.
Elaborating further, he alleged the non-official members appointed in board are belonging to the one political party, he said, adding that every time when baridars tried to pursue their viewpoint before the State, District administration and Chairman of the board, they only got assurances as nothing positive came out till date in giving rights and representation to Baridars in board.
He demanded that all possible rights should be given to the Baridars on the line of Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board.
Sharma also appealed the Government, Chairman and Divisional Commissioner Jammu to take care of the rights of the Baridars and pujaries of the Mata Sukrala Devi.
