POONCH, Apr 26: With an aim to accomplish the mission of J&K Police for channelizing the energy of youth and providing platform to the talented youth of the State, District Police Poonch organized T-20 Police Martyrs Cricket Tournament, which concluded at Degree College ground, here today.
About 40 cricket teams involving more than 600 players drawn from different parts of the district participated in the 35 days tournament.
The final match was today played between Glamorous Cricket Club Poonch and Power House Cricket Club which was won by Glamorous Club by 7 wickets.
Commander 6 Sector RR Brig, N R Indurkar was chief guest on the valedictory function, who distributed prizes among the winners and runners-up teams on the occasion.
Deepak Kumar of Glamorous Cricket Club was declared best batsman, Mukesh Kumar of Power House Cricket Club was adjudged best bowler, while Gurmeet Singh was declared best fielder of the series for their outstanding performance in the tournament.
The matches were officiated by Sanjay Misri, Kewal Krishan, Jatinder Singh J P Singh, Davinder Singh and Romesh Kumar, while Tariq Khan, convener Shaheed Manjeet Singh Volleyball Club coordinated the event.
SP Poonch, Shamsheer Hussain while speaking on the occasions paid rich tribute to the martyrs of Police and other security forces who had laid down their precious lives for the cause of the nation.
Chief guest, Brig N R Indurkar while speaking on the occasion also paid rich tribute to the martyrs of all forces and highlighted their role in restoring peace in the State.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Col S Mukundan, CO 39 RR; ASP Poonch, Amit Gupta; DySP DAR, Khalid Amin; Sanjay Raina and Narjeet Singh.
