JAMMU, Apr 29: A meeting of Executive members of All Displaced Kashmiri Pandit United Forum (ADKPUF) was held here, today under the chairmanship of D N Kissu in which grave anguish and surprise was expressed over the deliberate attempt of the State Government barring more than 80 percent KP voters from exercising their right to franchise.
The meeting said the Forum from very beginning has been requesting the concerned authorities for inserting corrections since long but they did not pay any attention to the same.
The meeting said it is concerning that neither the corrections have been inserted nor voter ID cards have been issued till date. Intentions of the Government have become clear that it is misusing its all machinery in silencing the voice of the community so much so that even right to democracy has been denied.
It said the voting process was deliberately made cumbersome from the very beginning and the names of legitimate voters were not included in voter lists in spite of submitting M Forms in time. It implies that that the displaced community has now been reduced to the second class citizen category.
The Forum said the negligence of the community by the successive governments has crossed all limits even the community has been denied the basic facilities of life.
The Forum reiterated its demand for declaring the community as internally displaced and the settlement of the community at a single place in Valley.
The meeting among others was addressed by Prof G L Koul, chief advisor of Forum, P L Sudeshi, its president, P N Raina general secretary, C L Koul, vice president, P L Raina chief spokesperson, C L Zutshi, B N Bhat, Bal Ji Pandita, Mrs Phoola Ji and Rajni Thaploo.
