Kavya wins Gold in 43rd North Zone Shooting C’ship

JAMMU, Oct 24: Kavya Kochhar has once again brought pride to Jammu and Kashmir with her remarkable gold medal victory in the 50m Pistol Women Individual event at the 43rd North Zone Shooting Championship 2024 held at New Delhi, today.
Representing the J&K Police Club, Kavya’s consistent success is a testament to her relentless dedication and training under her coaches, Rajesh Virdhy (former coach), Madhupal Singh, Vijay Kumar, and Pardeep Kumar from Chandigarh.
Dilbag Singh, Patron-in-Chief and Chairman of the J&K Rifle Association (JKRA), lauded Kavya on her outstanding performance, extending his best wishes to her and her coaching team. S.S. Sodhi, President of JKRA, also expressed his admiration for Kavya’s success, praising her resilience amidst the challenges faced by shooters from J&K, including the lack of adequate facilities and firearms. He emphasized that despite these hurdles; Kavya’s determination and discipline have shone through, reflecting the spirit of J&K’s sporting community.
Sharat Chander Singh echoed similar sentiments, highlighting the perseverance of the region’s shooters and their coaches. He commended their ability to excel nationally despite limited resources, emphasizing that their achievements are a result of sheer hard work and passion.
