24th J&K UT Sport Climbing C’ship concludes

Jammu, Oct 26: The 24th J&K UT Sport Climbing Championship concluded at Sprawling Buds ICSE School, showcasing the exceptional talent of climbers from across the region. International climber Arun Deep Singh from Jammu secured the coveted Men’s title, while Kashish Bharti of Udhampur retained his title in the Junior Boys category.
In the Men’s category, Vikas Singh and Harman Samotra, also from Jammu, claimed the second and third positions, respectively. The championship saw impressive performances in various age categories, with Ozma Altaf from Budgam becoming the new champion in the Junior Girls category. Preeti and Anshika from Aryan Oriental Convent Hr. Secondary School, Udhampur, finished second and third in this category.
Rudra Rajput from Jammu excelled in the Sub Junior Boys category, while Harshveer Singh of Sprawling Buds ICSE School earned the second position. The third position was shared between Adil Basit Dar from Pulwama and Yashwin of Sprawling Buds ICSE School.
In the Women’s categories, Shivani and Shilpa Charak, both international climbers from Jammu, secured first and second positions, with Prerna from Rajouri clinching third. A highlight of the competition was the outstanding performance of Aayana Bhagat in the Sub Junior Girls category, where her climbing technique left spectators in awe.
The championship concluded with a ceremony where chief guest Parveen Sharma, Chairman of The Citizens’ Cooperative Bank Ltd, along with other dignitaries, distributed medals and mementoes to the winners and participating institutions, celebrating the spirit of sports climbing in J&K.
