APS Damana holds Career Fest

JAMMU, Oct 26: Army Public School Damana organized a comprehensive Career Fest in the scenic Oval Garden of the school, aiming to guide students on various career paths.
Brigadier Vivek Puri, Commander of the 19 Infantry Brigade and Chairman of APS Damana, served as the chief guest, inaugurating the event. Accompanying him were Pushpinder Kaur, Principal of APS Damana; Lt. Col. R.S. Slathia, SO School; Shallu Kapoor, Vice Principal; and numerous career consultants. Students from grades VIII to XII attended the fest.
Career Advisors from 20 esteemed institutions, including IIM, IIT Jammu, The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), National Institute of Fashion Designing (NIFD), Bennett University, Manav Rachna University, and other prominent universities, set up informative booths. Notably, Prashant Sharma, an APS Damana alumnus, represented ICAI. The fest’s objective was to provide students with insights into how their academic and career choices can shape their futures.
A special session was held for senior students (classes XI and XII) on making thoughtful career choices. Dr. Ashish Kumar, Assistant Professor of Finance & Accounting at IIM Jammu, shared valuable advice based on his 27 years in finance, strategy, consulting, and research. Dr. Sarbjit Singh, Assistant Professor of Economics at IIM Jammu, and Parmveer Nandal, an IIT Jammu alumnus and entrepreneur, emphasized the importance of skill-building when selecting career options.
Brigadier Puri commended the school’s initiative, encouraging students to explore diverse career options presented by the universities. Principal Pushpinder Kaur noted the fest’s value in providing career guidance and networking opportunities, motivating students to recognize their strengths and align them with their career choices.
The fest, coordinated by Madhur Uppal, the school counsellor, concluded successfully, with students expressing gratitude for the valuable guidance and exposure gained.
