SRINAGAR, Oct 27: The Jammu & Kashmir Carrom Association convened its Working Committee Meeting for the 2024-25 season at SKICC, Srinagar, following the closing ceremony of the All India Inter-Zonal Chess and Carrom Tournament. Led by President Adil Rashid Shah, the meeting featured discussions with VD Narayan, Secretary General of the International Carrom Federation, and Bharti Narayan, General Secretary of the All India Carrom Federation, who visited to promote the sport.
The committee emphasized strategies to enhance carrom’s popularity in the region and provide greater opportunities for local players. President Shah urged members to engage schoolchildren and encourage registrations with the association. He highlighted the importance of participation in district and UT-level tournaments to scout talent for national competitions. The association aspires to see J&K players competing internationally, particularly in the upcoming Carrom World Cup in the United States next month, boosting the sport’s profile in the region.
