UDHAMPUR, Oct 29: Thirty eight passengers were injured, some of them seriously when an overloaded minibus rolled down in gorge at Farna Morh, near Shiv Mandir, here today while in another road accident, a pedestrian was crushed to death by a rashly driven bus in Panchari area.

The minibus accident took place around 12.30 pm when the vehicle bearing registration number JK02S-4087 was on its way from village Magiote towards Udhampur and driver lost control over the wheels due to apparent failure of brakes.
Due to overloading and steep rise of the narrow road, the driver could not apply brakes with the result the minibus started moving in reverse and rolled down in adjoining gorge.
Locals and Police team, led by SHO Rehambal, Inspector Nishat Sumbria rushed to the spot and shifted the injured persons to District Hospital Udhampur where three of them were referred to Government Medical College Hospital Jammu in view of serious injuries.
MLA Udhampur Pawan Kumar Gupta, DC Udhampur Saloni Rai and SSP Udhampur Amod Ashok Nagpure visited the District Hospital Udhampur to inquire about the injured persons.
Meanwhile, a man was crushed to death by a rashly driven passenger bus on the Panjar road in Panchari area, here today. The deceased was identified as Ramesh Singh, son of Gogu, resident of village Sunther Nali Nikka in Panchari.
The mishap took place when the rashly driven bus ( JK14C-2139) was on its way from Udhampur to Panchari and hit the victim, who reportedly died on the spot. The accused bus driver managed to flee from the spot after the accident.
Later, dead body of the victim was shifted to PHC Panchari for the post-mortem while a case has been registered in this connection at Police Station Panchari.
